Artist's Comments

This concept is taken from the graphic novel Box Office Poison by Alex Robinson (I've even borrowed the question from there). It's a wonderful book, following the lives of a group of young people in New York City, and sometimes the characters are asked questions like the one above.

I've asked this question to my versions of Athena, Hades, Hermes, Zeus and Eris.

Athena is referring to Erikhthonios, the child who was born from the earth and the sperm of Hephaistos. According to the myths, Athena kind of adopted him and brought him up unknown to the other gods.

Great work! (And I don't really blame Zeus!)

Thank you! (I don't really blame him either. Though I think what frightens him most is the fact that he never can force them into total submission).

Thanks! People tend to look adorable when they admit their weaknesses or other embarrassing stuff. :D

They all look so wonderful, and poor Athena looks so wistful! And the shading on Hermes' hat is brilliant!

Can men fake orgasms? I wouldn't know. And Zeus should be scared, considering that annoying prophecy about a certain potential child. And I need to verfiy Eris's statement - I've only ever read the Illiad and the Oddessy abridged, although if they're as bloody as the Aeneid they're certainly not boring!

Having looked at Athena again, I have decided that she does not look wistful, and instead rather unnerved. Considering the way Erikhthonios was raised, I don't blame her.
