Page twentyfour. I've been away for almost a week, visiting a friend in Uppsala. I actually sketched this page at my friend's place (though he has no writing-desk or such at all), but I had to wait with the inking until I was home again.

Melito walks a dangerous path. I was uncertain for quite a long time how I should depict the entrance to Tartaros, the great pit that was said to lie as far beneath Hades' realm as the earth beneath the heavens. It was tempting to just draw it as an open crater, though Hesiod describes it surrounded by a huge wall with gates of bronze (which I actually think Poseidon was believed to have built). I figured a wall probably made sense after all, for security reasons at least (easy to fall down otherwise).
